11/6 Fri-YAY!
Hello Monroe families,
First, THANK YOU for a positive start to the school year and for helping us wrap up Quarter 1 on such a great note. I can't believe we are already through our first quarter! Overall, our students are Showing up, Working hard, and Being Kind, and that is something worth celebrating. We have a lot to be proud of as a school community!
As we close out Quarter 1, I want to highlight just a few of the amazing things happening around Monroe:
Celebrating Students: We hosted two Student of the Month assemblies, honoring nearly 50 students for demonstrating what it means to be a Mustang! Thanks to the families that showed up to support. We will have our next assembly Nov. 13th!
Athletics & Activities: Nearly 40 runners made up an amazing cross-country team this season, representing Monroe with hard work, commitment, and Mustang pride.
Jazz Band: students are also making great music and preparing for a concert in a few weeks along with our other amazing musicians!
Family & Community Partnerships: We had a packed Open House and continue to be blessed by the incredible support of our parents, families, and community partners. We are also grateful for our Thanksgiving food partnerships that will help support dozens of Monroe families.
Amazing Learning: From hands-on science projects and incredible student artwork to aligned math and ELA curriculum, there are so many great things happening in our classrooms every day.
FLEX & Student Supports: FLEX continues to grow, with over 150 students receiving intentional academic support while others engage in enrichment opportunities. Our next round of new FLEX opportunities start next week.
Student Belonging: Five of our affinity groups are up and running, creating opportunities for students to connect, build community, and celebrate their identities and experiences.
Looking Ahead to Quarter 2
A new quarter is a great opportunity for our school community to reset, refocus, and continue building on the positive momentum from the first few months. It's also a fresh start for students. Whether they want to improve a grade, develop stronger routines, get more involved, build new friendships, or simply challenge themselves to grow, Quarter 2 gives everyone an opportunity to start fresh. We do some self-reflection with students in Advisory around how they are Showing Up, Working Hard, and Being Kind.
Families, we encourage you to take a few minutes to check in with your student about their first quarter. Celebrate their successes, talk through opportunities for growth, and help them set a goal for the next quarter- we have amazing staff members to support so reach out if you need someone to connect with.
Have a great weekend, GO Mustangs, Ducks, and Irish!
