Monroe Middle School

10/23 Monroe Fri-YAY!

Posted Date: 10/23/26 (04:02 PM)

Monroe Families,

Happy Friday, Monroe! It has been hard not to enjoy this stretch of crisp, sunny fall weather. The cooler mornings, changing leaves, and beautiful afternoons have made for a great backdrop to another busy week at Monroe.

As we close out the week, I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the recent news about additional budget challenges facing our district. We know that the projected cuts for next year are significant, especially after the reductions our schools and staff have already navigated. I know this is difficult news to process, particularly when we are less than two months into the school year. While we don't yet know exactly what the impact will look like for Monroe, we do know that our team will continue to work through these challenges the way we have this year—with care, collaboration, flexibility, and a commitment to keeping our students at the center of every decision.

And despite the challenges, Monroe is having a really positive year overall. Our students are showing up, working hard, and finding ways to belong. Our staff continues to support one another, collaborate, and find creative ways to provide meaningful opportunities and support for students. We will continue to focus on what we can control and make the most of every opportunity we have to support our Mustang community.

This is also another reminder of why strong partnerships between our school and families matter so much. It truly takes a village to support our students and our community. We are grateful for the trust, encouragement, questions, feedback, and partnership you provide. As we navigate the months ahead, we will need each other more than ever.

A Few Highlights from This Week:

Our Cross Country Team crushed it at Lane! We are incredibly proud of the effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork our runners continue to demonstrate. Way to represent Monroe!

Teacher collaboration during Early Release: Our staff spent time working together this week to reflect, collaborate, and continue strengthening instruction and supports for our students. The work that happens behind the scenes matters—and our students benefit from it every day.

A special visit to Monroe: We were excited to welcome Representative Nancy Nathanson as they spent time walking around Monroe, connecting with staff, and getting a glimpse of the great things happening in our building.

Thank you for being such an important part of our Monroe community. In both the good times and the challenging ones, we are grateful for your partnership and the many ways you continue to show up for our students and our school.

Enjoy the beautiful fall weekend…GO Mustangs, Ducks, and Irish!
