Monroe Middle School

10/16 Monroe Fri-YAY!

Posted Date: 10/16/26 (03:35 PM)

Hello Monroe families,

It has been a difficult couple of days for our community as we continue to process the tragic events in Bend yesterday. Our hearts are with the students, families, staff, and community members who have been impacted.

As educators and parents, we know how difficult it can be to balance the routines of a typical school day while also making space for grief, worry, anxiety, and uncertainty. This morning, we tried to strike that balance during our Student of the Month Assembly.

We are now more than a month into the school year, and our students have done a great job of Showing Up. We saw that spirit celebrated this week as 25 students were recognized as our Students of the Month. These students represent the many ways our Mustangs are showing up for themselves, for one another, and for our community.

As we transition into the weekend and beyond, please know that our counselors, support staff, teachers, and administrators are available to support students who may be carrying additional worry or have questions. We encourage students to talk with a trusted adult, and we encourage families to check in with their children about how they are doing.

Thank you to our families for your continued partnership and for reinforcing these messages at home. And thank you for trusting us with your students each day. We are grateful for the way our Monroe Community continues to look out for one another, especially during difficult moments.

I hope you are able to find some time this weekend to rest, be with family and friends, and take care of yourselves and one another.

Welcome new Secretary: Please help us to welcome our new Secretary, Margarita Cruz! She recently moved from Flagstaff, Arizona. She has been a myriad of things: administrative assistant, English/Creative Writing teacher, book festival coordinator, arts/culture reporter, volunteer radio DJ, small press editor, and literary arts organizer among other things but has always loved working most in educational spaces. When she's not reading, writing, or finding/building community she loves to hike and indulge in baking bread and pastries of all kinds.
