Dear Monroe Families,
We’ve officially reached the end of Quarter 3, and what a way to finish strong! This week has been filled with celebrations of learning, collaborative projects, and meaningful reflection across grade levels and content areas. As I do Walkthroughs of the school I see all sorts of engagement in the classroom and in every setting (Library, Office, etc) and it’s because of our dedicated and caring staff that give their all to our school and community.
Whether students were presenting their final projects, closing out fitness goals, engaging in spirited classroom discussions, or showing leadership in and out of the classroom—it’s been great to engage with them as their hard work, creativity, and resilience truly shined. On the staff side of things we had the privilege of having Sarah Medary, City Manager as our guest speaker today. Her experiences, wisdom, and easy going attitude made for an engaging morning with our city leader!
Shoutouts this week go to...
Our Track & Field Team for showing hustle, heart, and sportsmanship at their meet yesterday in the predictably, unpredictable weather in the Willamette Valley!
The amazing student representatives for Model UN—their leadership and global thinking make us proud!
Representatives at the African-American Youth Leadership Conference- thanks for leading the way!
And our incredible Band for delivering stellar performances this week—your talent filled the school with energy and excitement!
As we shift into the final stretch of the school year, we’ll continue to build on this momentum with exciting events, celebrations, and opportunities for students to showcase their Mustang pride (Student of the Month Connect Assembly Friday). Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students thrive—we couldn’t do it without you!
Lastly, we have an important community event on Social Media Awareness next week (see below for details)- we hope you can make it!
Go Mustangs!

Student device returns: As we work to account for all district devices, we’d like to send a friendly reminder to check if you have any 4J issued technology at home that may belong to a student who has graduated or is no longer in the district.
If you do have a device that needs to be returned or if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Thank you for your attention to this and for your ongoing support. Your help ensures we can continue providing the best resources for our students.
Students using Google Docs: apparently there are many instances of students starting a Google Doc, sharing with hundreds of other students, and engaging with it during class time. We will communicate with students next week but if you could support and have a conversation at home that would be much appreciated!
AVID Kona Ice Fundraiser: Kona Ice is coming to Monroe! Kona Ice of Eugene is partnering up with Monroe's AVID 7 and AVID 8 elective classes to help us fundraise for our upcoming field trips to visit university campuses. They will be here Friday; April 18th after school (3:40pm) parked on Bailey Lane. Please help us reach our fundraising goal by supporting Kona Ice on this Fri-yay afternoon. They will accept cash and card with prices ranging from $5 to $8 for a collectable item. Thank you for your support in providing our students with an enriching opportunity!
Teacher Appreciation Week: Teacher Appreciation Week is Almost Here! Our teachers go above and beyond every day to support, inspire, and guide our students. Let’s show them how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication!
We’re organizing a Teacher Appreciation Lunch on May 9th and need your help to make it extra special. If you’d like to contribute, please sign up using the link below:
Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing teachers!

When students received their forecasting sheet, they watched a brief video explaining how to complete it. This video has also been emailed to families separately.
