Hello Monroe Families-

Wow, what a busy few weeks- mostly with positive activities that have taken place or will take place (basketball game, field trips, Electric Car Races, 8th grade Camp Harlow, Field Day, Art and Music in the Courtyard, Band Concert, Penny Drive, Talent Show, Student of the Month Assemblies, 8th grade promotion + dance, and more)! It’s what makes our school and community special- that is, with your steadfast support and collaboration we’re able to make middle school a comprehensive experience that students will remember for years to come!

Looking ahead to next week it’s the final opportunity to get caught up. Please work with teachers as needed on final assignments being turned in. There will be no new assignments after today!

Lastly, check out our Mustang News Live document for key reminders! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday….have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine if your allergies allow you to!

ALL IN, ALL MUSTANGS!

Cell Phone Policy Update for 2024/2025: After careful consideration, we have decided that starting next year, students will be expected to keep their cell phones turned off and stored in lockers, including during lunch. Please read HERE for the entire letter to families as this information will be shared with students as well before the end of the year.

Last day of School: The last day of school is June 14th and it is a FULL day. Field day will start the last hour of school. Please see the schedule HERE. Students will enjoy activities out in the field - dunk tank, hydro blaster, slip and slide and games! We will also have Kona Ice for sale. If your student has been excluded from Field Day (admin. would have communicated directly), you're welcome to pick up your student at 2 pm.

Middle School Schedule Update 2024/2025: next year we will be moving to a 7 period day (this year was 6). A few relevant notes below:

  • Generally, students will have two elective choices.

  • Every student will have PE for 3 quarters (27 weeks) and Health for 1 quarter (9 weeks)- similar to this year.

  • Every student will still have a Connect class, similar to this year.

  • We will have Connect 2x a week and FLEX 2x a week, similar to this year.

  • Classes will be 38 minutes on Early-Release Wednesdays and 43 minutes the other days.

  • We will have 4 minute passing times (5 minutes this year).

  • There will be no “1 minute warning tardy bell.”

More details will be shared with families and students before the start of next year but we wanted to give you a heads up as we head into the summer!

Summer ActivitiesStudents: Are you looking for something fun and interesting to do this summer?  The 4J High School Summer Intensive Program has over 50 opportunities for high school students ( incoming 9th grade through 12th ) to extend their learning into the summer months.  With so many class offerings this summer, students can sign up for a maximum of 3 classes. Courses are offered at all four high schools, however, students may register for any course regardless of their home high school.  Registration for summer courses can be found at the 4J District webpage, High School Summer Intensive Program.

Exclusion from Activities: As we are nearing the end of the school year, we wanted to send out a quick communication around potential exclusion from activities. It is our practice that suspendable incidents and other similar behaviors can exclude students from participating in activities such as Activity Nights, dances, etc.

In an effort to increase our communication around this, Administration will be in contact with you and your student next week if they will be excluded from various activities. In general, we give students a reset/restart at the mid-term, so that incidents from the beginning of the year do not impact activities at the end of the year. However, Administrators do use their discretion in determining which students will need to be excluded.

Please reach out to Mrs. Selner if you have any questions.

Best,

Stephanie Pérez
