Hello Monroe Families-
What a great first week of school! Thanks for your endless support, communication, collaboration, and understanding as we kick off this school year. We had a great first week filled with excitement and positive vibes throughout the school. The students have shown incredible enthusiasm, eagerly looking forward to their classes and engaging with our dedicated staff. Similarly, our staff are excited and optimistic about the year and have already begun engaging and supporting our students!
This year we’ll be using the phrase “Raise the Bar.” The heart behind this is that we all have opportunities to better ourselves, treat others better, strive for excellence academically, socially, behaviorally, and more. We’ll be looking to “Raise the Bar” for our students and also ourselves in how we interact, teach, support, care for and more.
It's been heartening to see students responding positively to adults, creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. I am excited about the learning and growth that lies ahead and appreciate your partnership in making this year a success!
A few key reminders and things to consider as we move forward:
Cell Phone Policy: students have been doing a wonderful job so far! It’s amazing how they can adapt and meet our reasonable expectations as we “Raise the Bar.” Reminder of our process and policy below that we will start implementing next week:
First Incident: The student will be given a warning and asked to turn off the device and put it away in their locker.
Second Incident: A Minor Referral will be written. Families will receive an email notifying of the 2nd incident. Administration will follow up with appropriate consequences
Examples: Lunch Detention, Community Service, etc.
Third Incident: A Major Referral may be written. Administration will follow up with appropriate consequences AND the student may lose privileges- examples below:
Students may have to turn in their phone to the office daily.
Students may lose the privilege of having the phone at school.
*Length of time determined by administration
Please refer to the Student Parent Handbook HERE for other policies and details
